Harry Ward
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Ward also throws a screwball. Let's just say he's screwy on the field and off... so watch out for that devastating screwball! He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. Because he can't overpower hitters, Ward has to fool them instead. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Ward does an average job of holding runners. Ward is nothing special in the field. Ward is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ward has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Ward as a pinch-runner on occasion.
