Caleb Whispell
Catcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting The book on Whispell is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. With his slap-hitting approach, Whispell always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Caleb Whispell to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.
Baserunning & Defense He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal. Whispell is a poor defensive catcher. His weak, erratic throwing arm is his greatest liability.
