Brad Wilson
Starting Pitcher | Moose Jaw Dragons
Pitching Wilson can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Wilson has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Wilson also throws a screwball. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept righthanders in check but wasn't as effective against lefties.
Defense & Hitting Wilson is a reliable fielder who doesn't get rattled on defensive plays and is rarely out of fielding position. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Wilson is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Wilson has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook The Moose Jaw Dragons signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Wilson like a hot potato if something better comes along.
