Orth Wright   Relief Pitcher | Charlottetown Blues Pitching The key to Wright's success always has been his ability to keep hitters off balance by changing speeds and spotting his pitches. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! Never a hard thrower, Wright now has games when he can't hit 85 MPH with his fastball. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him. Defense & Hitting He has a fair pickoff move and isn't a particularly easy target for basestealers. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Wright is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Wright has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Charlottetown Blues have been known to use Wright as a pinch-runner on occasion. 2025 Outlook I can't say I know what The Charlottetown Blues were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. Wright has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the Charlottetown Blues will give him his walking papers before the end of the season.
