Ed Alfter
Starting Pitcher | Toronto Polar Bears
Pitching Alfter likes to get hitters looking down and away, then ties them up by coming inside with hard stuff, getting a lot of groundball outs. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average starter. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Alfter is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Alfter has some pop in his swing.
