Trase Angove
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Angove's endurance makes him well suited to long relief. He's unflappable on the mound, possessing the confidence to throw any of his offerings at any time in the count. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! If you're going in to face Angove, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. He hurts himself by falling awkwardly off the mound in his follow-through, which allows too many balls to go through the middle for base hits. Angove is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Angove has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Angove as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Trase Angove is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Angove.
