He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever. He rarely pulls pitches, preferring to shoot line drives to right-center.
Baserunning & Defense
His range remains above average, though injuries have weakened his arm. Ashlock doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often.
