Otha Burden   Relief Pitcher | Cold Lake Mud Cats Pitching He's a finesse pitcher, relying on movement and location. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average reliever. Burden also has a decent changeup. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders. Defense & Hitting Runners do not get a good jump on Burden... many have noted that his motion is difficult to pick up. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Burden is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Burden has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Cold Lake Mud Cats have been known to use Burden as a pinch-runner on occasion. 2025 Outlook The Cold Lake Mud Cats signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Burden like a hot potato if something better comes along.           -- Ska Nyman, A-Ball Scout
