Dave Canning
Catcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting With his ability to hit for average and his sound batting eye, he makes a good No. 2 hitter. Canning always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever. Canning tends to zone in on the power-alleys. Most of his outfield hits are to left and right center.
Baserunning & Defense His defense is solid but unspectacular. His arm is accurate enough. He generally takes one base at a time, though he'll take advantage if an outfielder gets lackadaisical.
2025 Outlook If Canning doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors.
