Mackey Ciraolo
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He's unflappable on the mound, possessing the confidence to throw any of his offerings at any time in the count. Ciraolo likes to get hitters looking down and away, then ties them up by coming inside with hard stuff, getting a lot of groundball outs. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. His changeup isn't bad... he fools his share of hitters. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Ciraolo is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ciraolo has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Ciraolo as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Mackey Ciraolo is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Ciraolo.
