Jacori Cobb
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! The one thing I must say I don't like about Cobb is how easily rattled he gets. If he makes a mistake to a hitter and the guy winds up on second or third, you can pretty much count on the guy scoring. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Cobb's curveball tends to hang. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Cobb is agile on the mound, though he makes needless errors when his concentration wanders. Cobb is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Cobb has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Cobb as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook If Cobb doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
