John Cooper
Starting Pitcher | Calgary Remparts
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Cooper's fastball was clocked at 95 MPH most of the season and he kept excellent control of it. His composure needs work. When Cooper starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! If you're going in to face Cooper, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting He has a fair pickoff move and isn't a particularly easy target for basestealers. He gets off the mound fairly quickly and his throws to first are hard. Cooper is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Cooper has some pop in his swing.
