Odie Cushman
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Cushman can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Cushman also throws a screwball. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Cushman, and that's saying a lot. Bad knuckle-balls mean lots of runs. I know it's a hook to keep his arsenal fresh, but come on.. Odie, time to let this pitch go. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.
Defense & Hitting He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Cushman doesn't field his position well. Cushman is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Cushman has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Cushman as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Odie Cushman is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Cushman.
