Art Danforth
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Danforth can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Danforth also has a decent changeup. The one thing I must say I don't like about Danforth is how easily rattled he gets. If he makes a mistake to a hitter and the guy winds up on second or third, you can pretty much count on the guy scoring. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. Danforth is nothing special in the field. Danforth is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Danforth has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Danforth as a pinch-runner on occasion.
