Dee Deck
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching It's tough to get much loft on the ball against him, as he works down in the strike zone to begin with and his two-seamer produces mostly groundballs. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Deck also has a decent changeup. If you're going in to face Deck, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Deck doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. He's slow to get off the mound to field his position, especially to the third-base side. Deck is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Deck has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Deck as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Dee Deck is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Deck.
