Jack Drake
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Drake throws a nice sinker... The rookies never seem to know when it's coming. Drake can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Drake also has a decent changeup. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting A fluid delivery leaves him in good shape for fielding, and he has a reputation as a competent defender. Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Drake is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Drake has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Drake as a pinch-runner on occasion.
