Frank Hearn
Relief Pitcher | Cobourg Stampeders
Pitching Hearn's bread and butter pitch is his slider. I've seen it baffle many a lefty. He's a finesse pitcher, relying on movement and location. Hearn has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. His composure needs work. When Hearn starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. Dating back to his days in the minors, Hearn has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting He has quick feet and can catch runners napping at first or second base. Hearn is nothing special in the field. Hearn is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Hearn has some pop in his swing.
