Jory Kemery
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Kemery can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Kemery also has a decent changeup. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success. It's hard to explain but Jory Kemery plays much better on the road then he does at home.
Defense & Hitting He's reasonably quick to the plate but needs to vary his pickoff moves. Good baserunners appeared to time him last year. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Kemery is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Kemery has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Kemery as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook AA isn't the right place for Kemery. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down for some minor retooling. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
