Bill Larkin
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. If you're going in to face Larkin, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Larkin, and that's saying a lot. Larkin has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. The running movement on his pitches makes life tougher on lefties than righties.
Defense & Hitting Basestealers have succeeded against Larkin because his pickoff move is weak for a lefthander. Larkin comes off the mound hard toward the third base side on his delivery, making it difficult for him to field balls to the right side or to cover first base on a close play. Larkin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Larkin has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Larkin as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Larkin was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Larkin? But if you ask me, I'll pass on Larkin.
