Fred Ritchie
Right Fielder | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting The book on Ritchie is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him. Fred Ritchie has made a career of putting the ball to the opposite field. That's rare in this day and age.
Baserunning & Defense Ritchie has below-average speed and is a poor baserunner. Ritchie plays mostly right field, where his mediocre range and throwing arm are less than ideal. He'd be better off in left.
2025 Outlook Ritchie isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Fred to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball.
