This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. The Retired or Inactive Players do tend to sit Schieffer when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball. You can expect Virel Schieffer to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
Schieffer doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often. His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. Virel's arm leaves a little to be a desired.
