Wayne Davellin
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching It's tough to get much loft on the ball against him, as he works down in the strike zone to begin with and his two-seamer produces mostly groundballs. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. Davellin also throws a screwball. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Davellin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Davellin has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Davellin as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Davellin.
