John Ogilvie
Relief Pitcher | Val d'Or Sharks
Pitching Ogilvie also has a decent changeup. The Val d'Or Sharks hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting His windup, though, makes him an easy target to run on. Ogilvie never has been a good fielder. Ogilvie is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ogilvie has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Val d'Or Sharks have been known to use Ogilvie as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook What The Val d'Or Sharks was thinking when they signed Ogilvie to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. Ogilvie isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for John to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Ogilvie.
