Trae Fragale
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He is adept at coaxing groundballs with his sinking fastball and plunging curveball, so hitters try to force him to elevate his deliveries and hope that they'll catch too much of the strike zone. Fragale can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Fragale also has a decent changeup. His composure needs work. When Fragale starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting He's reasonably quick to the plate but needs to vary his pickoff moves. Good baserunners appeared to time him last year. Fragale seems distracted after his delivery. He's sometimes out of position, fails to cover a base or doesn't back up throws. Fragale is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Fragale has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Fragale as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook If Fragale doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
