Brook Honahni
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Honahni's curveball tends to hang. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success. It's hard to explain but Brook Honahni plays much better on the road then he does at home.
Defense & Hitting He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Honahni is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Honahni has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Honahni as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Honahni flat-out isn't ready for this level of competition. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down promptly. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Honahni.
