Michael Keys
Relief Pitcher | Val d'Or Sharks
Pitching I love Keys's sinker. This thing plummets like a rock at 59 feet. He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Keys is nothing special in the field. Keys is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Keys has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Val d'Or Sharks have been known to use Keys as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The Val d'Or Sharks signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Keys like a hot potato if something better comes along.
