He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. The book on Lomax is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. I tell you, it's a real trip to watch this kid play. He gives 110% all the time... unfortunately that means he tends to run out of gas as the game wears on. Lomax always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever.
Baserunning & Defense
Lomax doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a few bases each season without getting caught very often. His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. Corey's arm leaves a little to be a desired.
2025 Outlook
Lomax was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Lomax?
