This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. Let's face facts: Tschappat hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.
Baserunning & Defense
Tschappat isn't a fluid first baseman, but he's not afraid to get dirty and gets the job done. His arm is accurate enough. Tschappat isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases.
2025 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Tschappat to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
