Landen Berganza
Relief Pitcher | Fort Mac Roughnecks
Pitching He is adept at coaxing groundballs with his sinking fastball and plunging curveball, so hitters try to force him to elevate his deliveries and hope that they'll catch too much of the strike zone. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average reliever. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.
Defense & Hitting His windup, though, makes him an easy target to run on. He hurts himself by falling awkwardly off the mound in his follow-through, which allows too many balls to go through the middle for base hits. Berganza is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Berganza has some pop in his swing.
