Eroni Brendle
Starting Pitcher | Grand Rapids Red Dogs
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. He keeps the ball down and gets a lot of groundballs. Brendle can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Brendle's fastball is a tick above average, in the 90-91 MPH range on most nights. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He has a quick pickoff move, but sometimes concentrates on pitching so much that he forgets about runners. Brendle is a maximum-effort pitcher who's slow off the mound. He could help himself by flagging down a few more grounders. Brendle is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Brendle has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook The Grand Rapids Red Dogs signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Brendle like a hot potato if something better comes along.
